‘The Lady: A Homage to Sandy Denny

In the years since her death, Sandy Denny has emerged as one of the UK ‘s greatest singer-songwriters. Comprehensive re-issuing of all her recordings in recent years, has seen her reputation continue to grow, and this very special performance showcases for the first time her entire musical legacy taking in her work with Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, her solo career and the new songs completed by Thea Gilmore on her acclaimed album ‘Don’t Stop Singing’. Thea joins a unique line up of contemporaries including Maddy Prior, Dave Swarbrick, Jerry Donahue alongside established vocalists Joan Wasser (aka JoanAs Police Woman) and PP Arnold and young admirers and musicians including Lavinia Blackwall, Sam Carter, Blair Dunlop, Ben Nicholls, Nick Pynn and Nigel Stonier. They perform with Bellowhead members Pete Flood, Andy Mellon and Benji Kirkpatrick to reveal the lady described by Richard Thompson as‘the greatest British female artist of her generation’.
