Festinho, Towersey, Shrewsbury

Five shows across three festivals this weekend. First up was Festinho, a small but perfectly formed festival at Hinwick House in Bedfordshire. On the Saturday I headed to Towersey Village festival where I played 2 sets, the first supporting Fay Hield Trio and then opening for Bellowhead in the evening. I was joined by Sam Sweeney for both of these sets, performing our versions of ‘Jack Hall’ and ‘Nottamun Town’. For Shrewsbury I took the band with me, it was great to let loose with the full band, again including Sam Sweeney. A busy but very rewarding weekend of shows.

This week I’m gearing up for our ‘Morris On’ show at the Purcell Room (Southbank Centre) on Saturday (4th Sept), and looking forward to playing a Bright Phoebus @ The Boardwalk in Sheffield on Monday 6th where I’ll be doing a showcase spot accompanied by an all-star line-up including Martin Simpson, Jon Boden, Will Pound, Andy Cutting and Sam Sweeney.
